Abraham Lincoln (12/2/1809 - 15/4/1865) 56 years old
Was the 16th president of United States, Freed the slaves of America, 2 years later, he became the 16th U S President. He appears on Mt. Rushmore & is a religious president. His assassination happened in Ford's Theatre when watching "Our American cousin" by Thomas Taylor, A fanatical of the southern states named John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in the back of the head on April 15th. John died 11 days later caused by a gunshot wound. Abraham Lincoln is one of the most famous presidents for all his bravery to stand up for other people. The American Civil War is also known as The War Between the States. The Lincoln memorial is 30 metres tall & the Lincoln statue is 5.80 metres tall. Abraham's Speeches were: (1858) I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave & half free. (1863) So the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. After the speech in 1863, Americans realised that Lincoln had summoned the spirit of democracy. ~ Luke
