My STORM coaster experience.

We just came back from a holiday in the Gold Coast, Australia.  

I faced my fears and went on my first roller coaster with my Dad!  It was called the Storm Coaster and it was at Sea World. First you float down a stream inside a cave like thing. Next you go into the open and start climbing this huge ramp. This was where I started to feel worried!  As we finished climbing the ramp there was a small drop and I thought gosh, that was OK but wondered what is to come? Then we experienced the thrill of being 30 meters above the ground before we plummeted down a huge drop and speedily climbed up again. It felt like we were flying before we hit the water again. Once we hit the water we slowly floated back and hopped off the ride.

When I was in line for the Storm Coaster I noticed a sign on the top of the roof and it said...

"you will get wet you might get soaked".

It was really exciting and I really liked it.   If you go to Sea World  and have the courage to do the Storm Coaster, I hope you like it too. 

Here's a video of what it was like from you-tube and here's a couple of photos Mum took of us going up the ramp and then Dad screaming his head off as we flew into the dark after the big drop (we are right at the back, I am closest, Dad is beside me)!

Was the 16th president of United States, Freed the slaves of America, 2 years later, he became the 16th U S President. He appears on Mt. Rushmore & is a religious president. His assassination happened in Ford's Theatre when watching "Our American cousin" by Thomas Taylor, A fanatical of the southern states named John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in the back of the head on April 15th. John died 11 days later caused by a gunshot wound. Abraham Lincoln is one of the most famous presidents for all his bravery to stand up for other people. The American Civil War is also known as The War Between the States. The Lincoln memorial is 30 metres tall & the Lincoln statue is 5.80 metres tall. Abraham's Speeches were: (1858) I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave & half free. (1863) So the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Me and my Mum have been doing this experiment called the exploding lunch bag. This was very fun, but sadly two bags didn't explode and all the other ones fine, they did explode. If you're wondering what the fair test is, well it's changing the temperature of the water. Also higher the temperature, quicker the bag inflates and explodes.

Baking Soda and Vinegar Volcano

HYPOTHESIS
I predict that when I put baking soda and vinegar it will have a reaction. You will see fizz and foam.

METHOD
1. First get out a tray and put a glass on it.
2. Pour 150 ml of vinegar into the glass.
3. Put 2 tsp of baking soda into the glass.

RESULT
The baking soda and vinegar reacted. I saw vinegar flow over the edge of the glass.

CONCLUSION
My hypothesis was correct.  

Dissolving calcium in liquid

Question:

 Which liquid dissolves the most calcium in the chicken bone?

Method:

 Soak three chicken bones in 150mls Malt vinegar, 150mls Cider vinegar and water. Leave for three days and take out afterwards. Draw a scale to see which bone bends the most.

Hypothesis:

We think that the water won't bend the chicken bone as well as the Malt and Cider vinegar because the water has no acid at all. Out of the Malt and Cider vinegar we really don't know which one will bend the chicken bone the most.

Time chiken bones went into liquid: 12:30pm Sunday 15th June 2014

Conclusion:

Out of the three liquids, malt vinegar bent the chicken bone the most, therefore malt vinegar contains the most acid out of the three liquids.

On the scale above you will see how much the bones bent, from least to most.

Fantastic fishy fountain.

What happens when you mix hot water yeast and hydrogen peroxide.You get a fantastic fishy fountain!

The first thing is that a catalyst(yeast)is a substance that increases the rate of a chemicle reaction. Then mix yeast with warm water and then get some hydrogen peroxide and pour it in.

During the experiment the bottle gets warm from the warm water. The experiment is an exothermic reaction .It creates a lot of heat.

That is how you make a fantastic fishy fountain. Hope you liked my experiment.would you like to do it? IT IS AWESOME!

Baking Soda and Vinegar Reaction

J Baking soda and vinegar reaction?

When you mix baking soda and vinegar you will have a reaction. You will see fizz and foam; you can even trap CO2 in a bottle with a balloon.

Vinegar contains acetic acid and baking soda contains sodium bicarbonate. They make an acid base reaction and their reaction makes carbonic acid.

Carbonic acid is an unstable acid. It quickly breaks down into CO2 and H2O. So you can see and hear it being created.

If you put baking soda and vinegar into a bottle it will take lift off. When you put a balloon with a small hole over the bottle it will full with CO2 gas. The gas will escape from the balloon and it will lift off like a rocket.

Now you know that carbonic acid breaks down into H2O and CO2 which creates fizzing gas. If you do it right, you can also make a rocket. I wonder what would happen if I add more vinegar?
